The Significance
Rudrabhishek is a powerful abhishek (ritual bathing) of the Shiva Lingam with milk, water, honey, curd and other sacred substances, accompanied by chanting of the Rudri hymns from the Yajurveda. It is one of the most potent Shaivite rituals, performed to appease Bhagwan Shiva in his fierce Rudra form for the removal of doshas, obstacles, ill-health and planetary afflictions. Families most commonly perform Rudrabhishek during Shravan month, on Mahashivratri, or whenever facing persistent health or professional struggles believed to stem from graha dosha. The rhythmic chanting and continuous stream of abhishek substances are said to create a profoundly calming, purifying atmosphere.

- Pacifies malefic planetary influences (graha dosha)
