The Significance
Satyanarayan Katha is a devotional narration of five chapters glorifying Bhagwan Vishnu in his Satyanarayan form — the embodiment of eternal truth. Traditionally performed on a Purnima, after fulfilling a vow, or to mark any joyous occasion, the katha reminds the family of the power of gratitude, honesty and faith through simple, memorable stories. It is one of the most widely performed griha poojas in Indian households precisely because it welcomes the whole family, including children, to sit together and listen. The evening closes with a shared aarti and the distribution of panchamrit prasad, believed to carry Bhagwan Vishnu's direct blessing.
